Tips for Living Life to the Fullest: Part 2

While making a bucket list can be a fun thing to do, it can also be a bit overwhelming. How do you decide what is of utmost importance to you and when do you begin to tackle those items? We’ve made it easy by providing you with some key steps for executing a plan to successfully launch your own personal bucket list.

  1. Brainstorm. Now that you are retired, you will have a lot of time to think about the things that you want and the things that bring you joy. It’s now more important than ever to set aside some time in an inspiring place that will allow you to get those ideas flowing. First of all, ask yourself where you ‘think’ best? For some, it may be a cozy coffee shop, alongside your favorite cup of tea, and for others, it could be outside, surrounded by nature. Pick your place of choice and watch your inspiration unfold.

  2. Choose wisely. Oftentimes we think of bucket list items as having to be extravagant or bold. While it’s great to live outside the box for a few moments, that may not be what is authentically important to you, so be sure to choose things that you truly want to do and hope to accomplish. Never create a list that is made up of items only to impress others. Skydiving may sound like a common bucket list item, but that doesn’t mean that it’s for you. You may be more interested in setting a bucket list goal of reading one book a week. The world is your oyster, and your goals do not have to be dangerous, bold, or showy. They can simply be catered to you and what you want out of life.

  3. Find a common theme. You may need to do some soul searching, it’s important to determine the things that you are passionate about. By looking back on your life for a few moments, you can make another list that includes the activities that you’ve been involved in that have brought you joy. Maybe it was cooking or volunteering at an animal shelter. These passions can grow and take major shape on your bucket list. The joy of volunteering at an animal shelter may be the start of something bigger, like launching your own shelter or starting a pet sitting business. You only live once, so do what you love and surround yourself with things that generate a natural happiness within your soul.
