We spend most of our lives working, and it can often feel like the majority of our time and money is spent tending to our growing families. While raising a family is a wonderful thing and often looked back as the best years of your life, there comes a time when it’s up to you to do the things that you’ve always wanted to do, but never had time for. Retirement is the best time to start prioritizing the things that you want to accomplish before you are unable to do so. If you want to spend your retired days living a life of purpose and full of joy, then it might be time to create your very own bucket list. What better time to do the things that you’ve always wanted to do. We have some tips for developing and executing your bucket list goals.
Step one-determine the activities that you’ve always wanted to do and cannot imagine going through life without having done them. Maybe it’s visiting a lighthouse or taking a Caribbean cruise. Whatever it may be, you need to write it down. Get it out of your system, write it down, and then you can prioritize and make the top five things happen. Tackling your bucket list, is like anything else in life…baby steps are key.
Step two-categorize your items. Some tasks may be as simple as watching the sunset, and others may be as big as driving an RV across the country. Make a couple of columns and determine which items are going to take a lot longer to plan versus which ones can be done in a few minutes.
Step three-execute your dreams. It’s time to set your dreams in motion and do the work necessary to make them happen. If you’ve always dreamt about going on a Safari, then never waste another second and start researching tours and getting recommendations from those who have been there and done that. People love offering advice about things that they have been through. And convenience is on your side, considering you are living in a time where you have the ease of the internet at your fingertips, and you can immerse yourself in chatrooms for every subject imaginable. If you long to be face to face with elephants, buffalos and cheetahs, then learn from the experts by searching for sites that will guide you through the ins and outs of safari vacations.
