If you’re looking for a stunning view of the New York City skyline, Chelsea Piers is the choice amongst tourists who prefer to walk while snapping photos. If you’re trying to capture the perfect shot, this park offers a variety of angles for skyline photography. Placed along the Hudson River, Chelsea Piers has been deemed the place to walk through and if you have the time, it’s an excellent place to picnic.

Another favorite of New York City fans is the Hi-line Elevated NYC Park-Rail Trail, which is a public park built on a historic freight rail line that is elevated above Manhattan’s West Side streets. Running from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 12th Avenues, the park offers city views as well as a plush miniature forest pathway that winds along the original railroad tracks. You can’t get much closer to New York history than this.

If you decide to venture over to Brooklyn, then you need to swing by Prospect Park. Set on 585 acres, this oasis offers a wide variety of sights to see as you walk along designated trails. From bird watching to baseball, this iconic piece of land hosts several nature programs through the Prospect Park Audubon Center, that allow you to explore nature and learn about Brooklyn’s last remaining forest and only lake. Every day of the week is packed with activities that are sure to keep you moving while also giving you the opportunity to learn about the historic city.

Sandwiched between the Hudson River and the rolling curves of Riverside Drive and Riverside Boulevard, Riverside Park is amongst the best parks to walk in. The four-mile stretch of land along the Upper West Side has 330 acres of green space and is known as a great place to hang out. If you are a fan of history you can walk along the paths that are lined with at least 14 monuments.

Walking is a healthy, easy way to stay fit and lose weight – so why not do it in the city that never sleeps?
